A Sophisticated Vision: Capturing Burberry's Retail Store in Westchester, NY

One of the highlights of this year was photographing the newly designed Burberry retail store in Westchester, NY. As someone who spends a lot of time on retail photography, projects like these hold a special place in my portfolio. There’s something uniquely rewarding about translating a brand’s visual identity into striking imagery, and Burberry’s modern design made the challenge an absolute delight.

Walking into the store, I was struck by its minimalist design. The store’s layout, featuring clean lines and understated tones, creates a backdrop that lets Burberry’s iconic products take center stage. The clothing racks, for instance, showcased the brand’s signature trench coats, perfectly complemented by curated pops of bold blue carpeting and natural wooden accents. My goal was to convey this harmony of luxury and simplicity while maintaining the spatial depth and architectural nuance that makes the space so captivating.

Lighting was key for this shoot. The store’s ambient lighting—soft and strategic—enhanced the textures of the materials, from the glass display cases to the leather handbags and wool scarves. Shooting tethered to the iPad, allowed me to collaborate with the team on-site, ensuring each composition reflected Burberry’s guidelines while meeting their marketing needs.

One of my favorite areas to photograph was the accessory section. A standout feature was the mirror framed in warm wood, placed strategically amidst the neutral shelving. Its presence softened the space, adding a dynamic, welcoming touch that speaks Burberry. It’’s often these small design elements that elevate the story of a retail space.

As the session progressed, I worked to highlight the interplay between the products and the space itself. The shelving arrangements, curated with Burberry’s iconic plaids and neutrals, drew attention to the brand’s detail.

Shooting retail spaces like this is more than just capturing a store; it’s about understanding the brand’s story and weaving that narrative into the imagery. With Burberry, the goal was clear: create visuals that celebrate their timeless elegance while embracing their forward-thinking design.
