Bringing Joy to Life: Photographing the John Theissen Children’s Foundation Family Fun Center

Capturing the vibrant, joyful energy of the new John Theissen Children’s Foundation (JTCF) Family Fun Center in Wantagh, NY was an incredibly fulfilling experience. This new space was brought to life through the Pay It Forward Project by IDS Long Island, where four talented designers teamed up with generous local vendors to create a haven for children and their families. The result? A dynamic and colorful environment filled with an art room, arcade, theater, and comfortable gathering spaces—all designed to bring comfort, fun, and a sense of normalcy to children facing illness and hardship.

For over 30 years, JTCF has been dedicated to supporting sick and underprivileged children, offering everything from holiday toy drives to financial assistance for medical expenses. This Family Fun Center is an extension of that mission, providing a place where kids can just be kids. From the brightly painted murals to the cozy movie theater and retro arcade, every detail was designed to bring joy and excitement. Photographing this project was not only about showcasing great interior design—it was about telling a story of community, generosity, and hope.
